About Us
Established in 2012, SH School of Communication is the youngest and the most vibrant department of Sacred Heart College, Thevara steered by an experienced crew. The department offers comprehensive courses in Animation, Communication and Journalism, Graphic Design, and Cinema and Television.
SH School of Communication is founded on a methodology that aims to inculcate innovation, action and professional responsibility in the students while nourishing a personal bond between the mentors and students. The department facilitates a 360 degree exposure to students by involving them in events related to art and media as well as by providing them opportunities to experience real work environment at design studios, television channels and media houses through internships and training.

Board of Studies (BOS)
Dr. Asha Achy Joseph
Dean
Asha Achy Joseph worked as programme producer in satellite TV channels Asianet and Indiavision for 7 years after her doctoral studies in Television audience research at University of Pune in 1998. She has been a researcher at various national institutions including UGC, wrote articles, worked on scripting, translation and subtitles for films, translated and edited books related to Cinema along with making fiction as well as non fiction film and TV content. Anyar, her first Malayalam documentary was selected to Indian Panorama of IFFI 1998. Changatikkoottam produced by her was judged the best TV programme for children in 1999 by Kerala state government. She was awarded Chevening scholarship by British government in Broadcast Journalism in 2002. She has worked as a member of the direction team of well known film makers Lal Jose and late Mohan Raghavan. From 2012 till 2018 she headed SH School of Communication at Sacred Heart Autonomous college in Thevara, Kochi. She has bean chair of boards of studies at various autonomous colleges, member of board of examiners at universities. She has also worked as festival director and been part of national and international jury of film festivals including IDSFFK, SIGNS and VIBGYOR throughout the last decade. Her short fiction Ore Udal (One Body) has been selected to Indian Panorama at IFFI 2015 apart from being selected to 15 international film festivals. She currently serves as the Dean of SH School of Communication, Sacred Heart College, Thevara.
Dr. C. S. Venkideswaran

He writes passionately about film and media, and has been actively involved with the Film Society Movement from the mid-70's. He has written for Deep Focus, Film International, Cinema in India, Bhashaposhini, Pachakuthira, Indian Express, The Hindu, Mathrubhumi and Madhyamam. His book, Malayalacinema Padanangal won a Special Jury Mention in the State film awards in 2011. An acclaimed documentary filmmaker, he has won the National Award for Best Arts/Cultural Film in 1995 along with M.R. Rajan for Pakarnattam - Ammannur, The Actor, the lyrical cinematic documentation of the life of Ammannur Madhava Chakyar, the exponent of the ancient classical Sanskrit theatrical 'Koodiyattam'. This film also won the Kerala State Award in the Best Documentary category in the same year. He was the Artistic Director of the Signs 2012 film festival for short films and documentaries. In the same year he was a jury member for best writing on cinema at the National Film Awards.
Mr. M. G. Radhakrishnan

One of the senior journalists in Kerala, India, M. G. Radhakrishnan serves as the Editor at Asianet News, Malayalam news channel. Radhakrishnan started his career in Mathrubhumi newspaper as a sub-editor. He was the Associate Editor of India Today magazine for two decades. M.G. Radhakrishan holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Kerala. He also has three books to his credit. His major areas of interest are politics, culture, economics and sports.
Ms. Anubha George

Anubha George is a former BBC journalist & editor, having worked for the organisation in the UK for 12 years. She has worked in broadcasting as a reporter, newsreader & as a deputy editor at BBC Radio 1, which is the most listened to radio station in the UK among its youth. She was the first ever Indian woman in such a senior role. Before that, Anubha worked briefly for The Indian Express in Bangalore. She's an English Literature graduate from MS University in Baroda, where she won a gold medal; and as a journalism trainee at The Asian College of Journalism (then in Bangalore), she won The Hindustan Times award for Excellence in Journalism. Some of her career highlights include reporting on the Sri Lankan tsunami; covering the Kargil war, and the general election in both India & the UK. She's also a trained yoga teacher & has worked with mentally ill & addicted patients & their carers. She has spoken & published on the subject. She now lives with her family in Kochi, having moved back from England last year. She loves Kerala- its beautiful sunny days, food, art, culture & above all, its people. Anubha lives her life by the motto- believe in the Universe, have courage & be kind.
Mr. Thomas Jacob

Thomas Jacob is a veteran in Malayalam journalism whose rich experience in Editorial as well as media management has received much recognition nationally and internationally. As the Editorial Director of Malayala Manorama he is at the helm of affairs of the daily. His regular columns in the Manorama periodicals are credited with a large fanfare. As the former Chairman of Kerala Press Academy, his ability in training aspiring journalists needs no testimony.
Mr. Lal Jose

Film maker Lal Jose has been involved in making Malayalam films for the last 20 years. He started out as an assistant director to the well-known film maker Kamal. His films are acclaimed by audience as well as critics. Most popular among them are Oru Maravathoor Kanavu, Meesa Madhavan, Classmates, Chanthupottu, Achchanurangaaththa veedu, Arabikatha, Neelathamara, Elsamma enna Aankutty, Diamond Necklace and Ayaalum Njaanum Thammil.
He has enriched the industry by constituting a production company - LJ Films - which takes initiative to produce and distribute quality films. He has won numerous awards for his work throughout this eventful career. He has been recognised by Asianet, Filmfare and Kerala State, for Best Director and Best Popular Film.
Mr. Felix Devasia

Felix Devasia, a pioneer in Children's animation videos and movies in Kerala is the founder of the animation studio 3D Magic in Kottayams. He has worked as an animator with Zee TV Mumbai, for six years. He is one of the brains behind the creation of 'Manchadi', the first animated production in Malayalam for kids. He has also created the 'Kilukkampetti' series for Manorama music.
Mr. Prasad N. K.

Prasad is a professional Graphic Designer and Visualizer whose specialization include magazine layout, poster design and logo/identity design. In his 15 years of professional experience, he has served in various capacities at prestigious firms like New Age Business Daily and Tulip Creative Media, Goa. He is now serving as a freelance consultant for many ad agencies and publications like Lotus Media House Cochin, Corporate Solutionz Cochin and Harisree Publications, Thrissur.
Mr. Babu Joseph

A visionary leader who walked ahead of times and currents in Media, Babu Joseph has always set his own trends. Be it his forte, print journalism, or his later love, Television, this creative multi-medium specialist has been engaged in proactive dialogue with the media throughout the past 30 years. His interests are as wide as initiating and running a TV channel or promoting AIDS awareness or teaching journalism. SH School of Communication is extremely proud to have him as the director.

Ms. Shanthi Mathai

Shanthi Mathai is an enterprising personality who carries with her a work experience of more than twenty years across the fields of academics, journalism (reporting & editing), research, social marketing, social work and also programme coordination with national and international NGOs. As an academician, she has been a faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication for the last nine years and has presented sixteen papers at many national and international conferences as well as published research papers and articles. She possesses immense experience in organizing conferences, training programs and workshops, and has produced numerous communication materials. Her association with the NGO, Ecumenical Women at the United Nations in New York undertaking the responsibilities as a Researcher and Coordinator of Orientation programs to international delegates to the UN program of Commission on Status of Women helped her accumulate rich exposure and professionalism.
Ms. Anu Cherian

Anu Cherian, mentor for M.A. Graphic Design, is a postgraduate in Visual Communication from Loyola college, Chennai. An art teacher and an event management professional rolled into one, she has organised events for government, corporate, private and educational organisations in Kerala and Bengaluru. Organising the 'FTV Fashion Show'- HariAnand & Patti Stren Collections '09 was a major event in her illustrious career. She has also worked as an RJ at GyanVani Educational Radio in Coimbatore.
Mr. Sijo Joseph

With Diplomas in Animation-VFX and Network Centred Computing and a high degree knowledge of Advanced Editing/ Grading, he has previously worked as Freelance Colourist, Nuke Compositor at Dreamworks Animation DDU and Smoke Editor at Famous Studios.
He is currently a VFX Supervisor (Films and Commercials) and a VFX mentor. He takes up overseas and domestic work film projects on contract basis. Some of his recent projects are Penguins of Madagascar, Back at the Barnyard, How to Train your Dragon series. He has worked for CN and Nickelodeon from Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation, and plus hundreds of domestic and international films and commercials.He has led around 300 seminars in related fields, in various educational institutions. His passion lies in travelling and film making, and is concerned about causes related to Children and Education, Environment, Arts and Culture.
Mr. Kishore Kumar

Kishore Kumar is a senior faculty and mentor at SH School of Communication and the team lead for Animation. He has more than 17 years of experience in various fields such as a 2D Traditional Animation, 2D Digital Animation, Cartoon Animation Film Making, Financial Management and Administration.
He holds his Professional Program in Traditional 2D Animation from Toonz Animation India Pvt. Ltd, Technopark – Trivandrum, Diploma in Computer Studies, Diploma in Computer Hardware and Multimedia Course from Arena Multimedia.
Before entering academics, he worked as a 2D Animation Trainer at Toonz Animation Pvt Ltd which is a multinational company engaged in Animation Film Making and Training and a provider of worldwide Animation candidates. He also worked as a Technical 2D Executive at Ants Animation Bangalore and was in the production field at Tirunelveli based 2D animation production unit. During this period he has obtained sufficient skill to manage trainees.

Mr. Abhishek.R, is a Graphic Design faculty of SH School of Communication. He is experienced and organized professional with a proven track record. His unique hybrid skills of brand, publication design, UI and UX – have seen him exceed heights. He has also provided his design leadership and experience to startups. In his works, words like powerful, stimulating, and daring come to mind—also beauty and magic. He is a post-graduate from SRM University Chennai and has worked designs for ABAD, De-Fab, and Marriot. Apart from all this, he is a caring and motivated teacher of SHSC with Strong multitasking ability, recognized for excellent communication skills and ability to manage and enthusiastically engage the classes.

Still he works as freelance journalist for various magazines and online portals. He has more than 3years of experience in journalism teaching. Ms.Jeeva K.J, mentor for M.A.Cinema and Television is a postgraduate in Broadcast Journalism and Video Production from Amrita Viswavidhyapeetam . She has more than 5 years of experience in teaching. She is also a Film maker in Malayalam film industry, her first film Richter Scale 7.6 screened in many international film festival, it won debut award in Noida international film festival.

Boney Varghese is a mentor for the Cinema and Television department. He has done his Masters in Cinema & Television and his specialization in Digital Photography and Digital Film Making. He has more than 3 years of experience in academics and 3 years of experience in film and animation Industry. He has worked for Disney India, Discovery Kids, Nickelodeon etc and recently he assisted director Blessy for his venture "100 Years Of Chrysostom" which won the Guinness World Record for its longest documentary ever made.

Anil K V., faculty member for Animation and Graphic Design, is a Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi award winner and an experienced animator, designer and fine arts person. He has conducted several solo and group exhibitions, organized and participated in the Kochi Muziris Biennale 2013, Artist Camps and Seminars. He has animated the film, Of Fishes and Tales, directed by Mr Prakash Moorthy, produced by C-dit for the State Institute for Children's Literature (SICL).

Vinod L , Assistant Professor, is a first rank holder of Master of Fine Arts ( MFA) specialized in Applied Art, with UGC NET in Visual Art is one of the senior most faculty in the field in Kerala, with 6 years industry experience in advertising and 10 years in academics and teaching, in some of the most reputed colleges in Kerala. A thorough academician in visual art with a passion for research has presented and published several papers in national and international conferences and journals. As a painter, his styles and media are diverse and has participated in several painting exhibitions in the country and has a vibrant presence in the online art circles of India and abroad. His areas of Interest other than Applied Art are, Art History, Visual Semiotics, Iconography, Indology and Ancient Symbology.

Malu Mohan, Mentor for MA Multimedia, is one of the senior most 3D Animation Faculty in Kerala, with an experience of 14 years. She has been teaching in different reputed Animation Institutes including TOONZ Animation, Arena and Image as Senior Faculty and Department Head. She was an invited faculty at Naval Base, Kochi. She has been doing freelancing works like Poster Designing, 3D Architectural Visualization and Character Modeling for various Production houses.

George Paul is the founder and lead designer of 'Forest Design' – a graphic designing agency which serves clients such as L&T, HP and Tata Press in the corporate sector. A postgraduate in Design from IDC, IIT Mumbai, with wide-ranging experience in both print and web design, he develops corporate and brand identities, product packaging, websites, presentations and sales collateral for clients in retail, service and high-tech industries. He has handled a three-day workshop on Information Graphics at IDC, IIT Bombay, as visiting faculty.
